The Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure promotes a positive image of Northern Ireland internationally through the arts. Its goals are to:

• Overcome insularity
• Provide opportunities to broaden outlooks
• Promote wider exposure for artists and performers
• Build confidence by showcasing the best of Northern Ireland’s arts sector
• Develop new partnerships and strategic relationships

There are three strands to the Department’s work on international issues:

• Showcasing
• Raising the cultural profile
• Nurturing home grown projects

DCAL works collaboratively with the Arts Council of Northern Ireland the British Counciland the Northern Ireland Bureau DC to deliver international projects at home and abroad.
