Our publications are organised into classes of information; the information contained within these classes will be retained in line with the Department's retention and disposal schedules.

You will find full details of what we publish under each class contained in our booklet ‘Information Available’.

Our Organisation
Classes of information published in this area are:-

Organisational Structure
Documents showing the Senior Management structure of the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL) and Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland (OSNI).

• Plans and Strategy
  Information about the DCAL, Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI), OSNI vision, strategy, corporate and business plans.
• Human Resource Policy
  Information on health and safety, equality and personnel policy.
• Annual Reports
  Annual business and financial reports and funding agreements.

  A list of the legislation relevant to the activities/functions carried out by our business areas.

Customer Advice and Guidance
Classes of information published in this area are:-

• Customer Advice
  Information available to customers including guidance notes, leaflets, booklets and brochures.
• Standards of Service
  Information provided to customers on the levels of service they can expect to receive.
• Complaints Procedure
  Information provided to customers on how to complain if they are dissatisfied with the services provided.

Policy
Classes of information published in this are:-

• Policy Making and Public Consultation
  Information on feasibility studies, impact assessments, appraisals, surveys and outcome reviews.
  *Where documents are withheld from publication we will explain what exemption has been applied and why.  This class only covers those documents approved from December 1999 (formation of DCAL).

Policy Evaluation and Research
Information on evaluation reports and research papers which is not in breach of an essential confidence, or for which DCAL has copyright.

Agreed Committee Papers
Classes of information published in this area are:-

Departmental Committee Papers
Here you will find minutes of Departmental Board meetings and Board meetings of PRONI (before they became part of the Core Department) and OSNI.  Summaries of meetings held after 1 December 2002 will be available within four weeks of being agreed.  These summaries are normally agreed at the following meeting of the Group and will not include exempt items, for example, personnel issues or matters concerning development of Departmental policy not yet finalised.

PRONI Internal Guidance and Procedures
Classes of information published in this area are:-

• Accessioning, Indexing, Storage and Assessing Guidelines
  Here you will find copies of internal working procedures and standards to guide staff in PRONI involved with identifying records of historical value, indexing them, preparing them for storage and providing public access to them.
• Preservation of Records
  Here you will find copies of internal working procedures and standards to guide staff in PRONI involved in the long-term preservation and care of records.
