Feasibility Study

In December 2005 the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure and the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs,Opens new window through Waterways Ireland,Opens new window commissioned ESB International and Ferguson McIlveen LLP to prepare a technical summary study.  Its purpose is to draw up a report on the possible re-opening of the Ulster Canal from Lough Neagh via the River Blackwater (to connect to the Ulster Canal in the vicinity of Blackwatertown) and from Lough Erne to Clones.  The study to draw to the greatest extent possible on previous reports and summarise the current position on the issues and costs.  The Ulster Canal Feasibility Study PDF Opens new window (Pdf format size 158Kb) is being made available to the public on that basis.
