The St Andrews Agreement (2006) states ‘The Government firmly believes in the need to enhance and develop the Ulster-Scots language, heritage and culture and will support the incoming executive in taking this forward’

The Northern Ireland (St Andrews Agreement) Act 2006 places a duty on the Executive to adopt a strategy setting out how it proposes to develop the Ulster-Scots language, heritage and culture.

Government has been working with the Ulster-Scots Agency to produce proposals for projects and initiatives that would give effect to this commitment.
