Armagh Planetarium

Planetarium re-opened !

The newly refurbished Armagh Planetarium is Northern Ireland's latest 'must see' visitor attraction.  The new Planetarium re-opened its doors to the public on Monday 31 July 2006 after an extensive £3 million facelift that was funded by the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure.

The Star Theatre accommodates 94 people in luxurious seats which tip back so that viewers can fully appreciate the new sound and light experience.  These are new provided by state-of-the-art Digistar 4 projection system and a 5.1 Bose sound system.  Unlike a conventional cinema, projection on to a dome gives the viewer a truly unique experience known as 'total immersion'.
