Future Building Projects

Through the Investment Strategy for Northern Ireland (2008/09 - 2018/19) £138m is profiled to modernise library buildings.

Over the past five years DCAL has funded a number of new libraries at  Ballymena, Bangor, Castlederg,Cookstown, Finaghy, Grove Well Being Centre, Irvinestown, Lisburn, Magherafelt, Newtownstewart and Strabane. A major refurbishment was carried out at Armagh library.

Antrim - Work commenced on a new library for Antrim in August 2008 and was opened on 1st February 2010.

Whitehead - Refurbishment work finished on the Library in March 2010.

Libraries currently under construction

Dungiven - Work commenced on site in Summer 2009 and should be open to the public in Summer 2010

Keady - Refurbishment work is currently underway

Belfast Central Stonework - Work commenced in April 2010

Proposed New Libraries

Carrickfergus - Refurbishment work is expected to commence in early 2010.
