Future Building Projects

Through the Investment Strategy for Northern Ireland (2008/09 - 2018/19) DCAL has made a major investment to modernise library buildings.

Over the past five years DCAL has funded a number of new libraries at  Ballymena, Bangor,Cookstown, Finaghy, Grove Well Being Centre, Irvinestown, Lisburn, Magherafelt, Newtownstewart and Strabane. A major refurbishment was carried out at Armagh library.

Antrim - Work commenced on a new library for Antrim in August 2008 and was opened on 1st February 2010.

Whitehead - Refurbishment work finished on the Library in March 2010.

Dungiven - new library official opening took place 25 February 2011.

Keady - New refurbished library opened to the public in May 2010

Belfast Central Stonework - Work commenced in April 2010 and completed February 2011.

Carrickfergus - Refurbishment work completed re-opened March 2011.

Newry refurbishment work completed March 2011.

Falls - Refurbishment work completed May 2011.

Shankill - Refurbishment work completed May 2011

Whiterock - Refurbishment work completed March 2011.

Work has commenced to refurbish Dungannon and Ormeau libraries.
