Sport

DCAL is responsible for the central administration and promotion of sport in Northern Ireland. We are committed to promoting sport at grassroots level, providing access to sport and encouraging the take-up of sport across communities and by children and young people in particular.

Our work in sport includes:

• Sport Northern Ireland: DCAL is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient administration of Sport NI which is the statutory body set up under the recreation and Youth Service (NI) Order 1986 and is responsible for the development of sport in NI, including the distribution of funding.
• The Elite Facilities Capital Programme (EFCP): Managed by Sport NI on behalf of DCAL. .
• Community sport: We are committed to promoting sport at grassroots level.
• Stadia Developments We recognise the need to improve standards of stadia throughout Northern Ireland.
