Sports Strategy for Northern Ireland

Over the past 2 years, the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL), has been developing,  in partnership with Sport Northern Ireland (SNI), a new 10-year Strategy for Sport and Physical Recreation in Northern Ireland.  The purpose is to establish the key priorities for the future development of sport and physical recreation in Northern Ireland and to inform the direction of future investment.

To complement the public consultation process, DCAL and SNI undertook a series of facilitated consultations with key stakeholders to gather their views on the document at a collective level. The public consultation on the draft Strategy closed on 9 January 2008.

The Department, in partnership with Sport Northern Ireland, will also be considering all of the comments submitted as part of the consultation before finalising the Strategy later this spring.

The draft Strategy has been subjected to an Integrated Impact Assessment, including equality screening. Copies of the Integrated Impact Assessment and equality screening are available from the Department on request.
