Gregory Campbell, MP, MLA was appointed Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure in the Northern Ireland Executive from 9 June 2008.
Representing the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) he was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in 1998 representing East Londonderry. He served as Minister for Regional Development from 2000 to 2001 and in the Assembly as an MLA until 2003 when it was suspended. He became a Member of Parliament in 2001 for the East Londonderry UK Parliamentary Constituency.
Gregory’s political career began in 1981 when he was elected as a Councillor to Londonderry City Council. Since then he has led the DUP group on the Council.
He was a member of the first Northern Ireland Assembly between 1982 and 1986 and a member of Northern Ireland Forum for Political Dialogue between 1996 and 1998. He has also been Security Spokesman for the DUP since 1994 to date.
Born in Londonderry on 15 February 1953, Gregory is married with one son and three daughters. His interests include soccer, music, reading and walking.
